This policy explains what ExamMiner processes, why it is needed, which service providers are involved, and how you can control or delete your data.
Independent preparation tool: ExamMiner is developed and published by Opalin Ai. ExamMiner is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Pearson or PTE Academic.
This Privacy Policy applies to the ExamMiner mobile application and related ExamMiner services. In this policy, "we", "our", and "us" refer to Opalin Ai, the publisher of ExamMiner.
When you create or use an account, we may process your name, email address, user identifier, authentication provider, and optional profile image. Authentication credentials are handled by the selected authentication provider; we do not receive your provider password.
ExamMiner may process practice completion, task type, estimated scores, mock exam progress, study plan status, goals, achievements, saved vocabulary, and related learning activity so the app can display progress and restore supported account data.
When you choose a speaking task and grant microphone permission, ExamMiner records your response. Microphone permission alone does not authorise AI sharing. Before transmitting audio, transcripts, task prompts or scoring context to Google Gemini or Microsoft Azure for feedback, the app asks for separate AI Data Sharing permission. Speaking recordings and voice-input recordings may contain personal information you say aloud.
After you grant AI Data Sharing permission, written answers, task prompts and scoring context may be sent to Google Gemini or, where configured, Microsoft Azure OpenAI for automated feedback. Text can include personal information you enter; please avoid sensitive information. Local deterministic marking does not require AI sharing. Results are practice estimates, not official PTE Academic scores.
Apple App Store and Google Play process payments. We may receive transaction identifiers, product identifiers, purchase status, and entitlement information needed to verify and restore access. We do not receive or store complete card or bank details.
We may process app interactions, feature usage, device and operating system information, crash reports, performance data, and diagnostic identifiers to operate, secure, and improve ExamMiner.
We do not sell personal information. We use service providers only where needed to operate ExamMiner. Depending on the feature and release configuration, these providers may include:
AI requests may pass through our scoring servers before reaching the named provider. Network services also process technical connection information, such as IP addresses. We require service providers receiving personal data to protect it to the same or an equivalent level as described in this policy, including confidentiality, appropriate security and purpose-limited processing, under applicable service and data-processing terms. Data may be processed outside your country of residence.
Our Gemini integration uses a billing-enabled paid API project. Under Google's paid API terms, prompts and responses are not used to improve Google's products; limited logging may still apply for abuse detection and legal obligations. Azure processing is subject to Microsoft's Data Protection Addendum and its Speech privacy documentation. These terms do not mean that all provider processing or retention is zero.
The in-app disclosure names Google Gemini and Microsoft Azure, identifies the data and purposes above, and offers Allow AI data sharing or Not now. No AI permission is inferred from sign-in, a subscription, microphone access, or acceptance of this policy. Your choice is stored on this device for the signed-in account and disclosure version; another account, a new device or a changed disclosure may require a new choice.
Account and supported progress data may be retained while your account is active. Practice recordings and detailed Learn activity may remain on your device for local use; deleting local app data removes device-only records. New vocabulary audio generated from your text is cached locally, not published to the shared audio cache. Existing published audio may be downloaded from Firebase. Submitted AI content is processed for the requested feature; provider security, abuse-monitoring and legally required retention may also apply under the terms above. We do not promise immediate deletion of requests already processed by providers. Optional contribution of practice data for scoring improvement requires a separate choice and is not enabled by AI consent. Analytics and diagnostics follow provider settings and legal requirements.
You can request deletion from Profile > Settings > Delete Account in ExamMiner. If you cannot access the app, email info-examminer@proton.me from the address associated with your account. We may need to verify account ownership before completing the request.
Some records may be retained where required for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, accounting, or legal compliance. Store purchase records controlled by Apple or Google are managed under their policies.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted HTTPS connections for network communication. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
ExamMiner is an exam preparation service and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required.
We may update this policy when ExamMiner features, providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the latest revision.
